One of the most interesting films of all time, Dr. Strangelove is a farcical look at the insane underpinnings of some of the Cold War theories regarding Mutual Assured Destruction. With the Soviet Union and the United States threatening to utilize the tools of nuclear war (sanity began to sink in following the Cuban Missile Crisis) - each to prevent the other from dominating his realm - a brilliant satire on the situation was inevitable. Highly regarded director Stanley Kubrick (of A Clockwork Orange and 2001: A Space Odyssey) rose to the challenge. Despite the four decades which have passed since the release of Dr. Strangelove, the film retains its place as a masterpiece of social commentary. And regardless of one’s political ideology, Dr. Strangelove is outrageously funny.

Gathering a collection of oddball kooks, paranoid wackos, and outright insane individuals, the characters in Dr Strangelove bring the world to the very edge of destruction - without batting an eye, and all the while inexplicably protecting their petty fiefdoms from the greedy hands of their perceived enemies. After all, what if some bombs are left over after the nuclear war and the other side uses them to strike at our cave dwellings - to seize our caves!!!! In short, Dr. Strangelove is a film beyond description. One just has to see it for himself.

When U.S. Air Force Colonel Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) goes completely insane, believing the communists are conspiring to poison the ‘bodily fluids’ of the American populace, he orders his squadrons to attack the U.S.S.R. and drop a payload of nuclear bombs. The lone renegade sparks U.S. military action against his stronghold and a top level meeting between US President Merkin Muffley (Peter Sellers) and his top advisors. Conversing with Russian Ambassador Alexi de Sadesky (Peter Bull), the president tries to put an end to the crisis and avert nuclear war. But he learns instead that a nuclear strike by the US would automatically trigger a Soviet ‘Doomsday’ machine which will destroy all known life on Earth.

Desperate to save the world, the president must deal with a drunken Soviet Premier, the warmonger General ‘Buck’ Turgidson (George C. Scott), and listen to the droning monologues of former Nazi-scientist, turned genius advisor, Dr. Strangelove (Sellers). Sellers is hilarious in this role as well as his others. Overall, this movie is a hilarious series of laughs with an endless number of one-liners such as “Gentleman, you can’t fight in here! This is the war room!”

Hilarious to the end, Dr. Strangelove is a modern satire that would make Jonathan Swift proud. Nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Dr. Strangelove nevertheless went home from the Oscars empty handed. But the picture’s legacy only seems to grow with the passing of time. Standout, Oscar-worthy performances by Peter Sellers and George C. Scott strengthen every aspect of the film, and the end of the Cold War only witnessed the rise of a new war against Islamic terrorism - with some similarly ridiculous ideas emanating from Washington’s power brokers… Overall, this is a funny movie that puts the world political stage back in perspective. Its enduring success makes Dr. Strangelove a definite must-see film.

As the sport of Airsoft continues its surge in worldwide popularity, the number of Airsoft teams and clubs continue to climb as well. These dedicated groups gather as weekend warriors at outdoor venues to participate in sophisticated war games. Dressed in military like fatigues, and armed with replica Airsoft guns, these teams engage in simulated military battles commonly referred to as the Mil-Sim (military simulation).

Of all the role players one can choose to be in these weekend battles, perhaps the most popular of all is the “Sniper”. The Airsoft Sniper is often referred to as the Lone Wolf or Rouge of Airsoft. This is the gamer that wants to place himself in the perfect hidden location in order to eliminate the opposing players in a deadly ambush. Although a popular identity among Airsoft warriors, few players have mastered the skill of becoming a feared and effective “Super Sniper”.

The first step in becoming a successful Super Sniper begins with having the right equipment! This begins by choosing the Sniper’s most important accessory-the sniper rifle. The goal of the Sniper is to be able to shoot the enemy from long distances, therefore his rifle does not need to be fully automatic or even semi-automatic. A well built spring-action rifle is usually the choice. The spring sniper rifle must be one of the more powerful models in order to shoot from long distances with great accuracy. It is also important to keep in mind that the most powerful weapon the Sniper has is his stealth or the ability to stay hidden. The spring action sniper rifles are much quieter than the electric automatic rifles.

One of the most recommended spring sniper rifles is the Super 9 Bolt Action Airsoft sniper rifle. This great Airsoft gun is made by UHC, which is widely recognized as one of the premier manufacturers of spring guns.

Perhaps the next most important piece of equipment for the secretive Super Sniper is his riflescope. The ability to see long distances with accuracy is critical to his success. Often the original equipment scope does not fulfill this requirement and an upgrade is needed. A minimum 4×32 power scope is the desired measure.

The successful Sniper has also mastered the art of military camouflage. Without proper clothing the Sniper is doomed to failure. It is essential for him to be undetected by the opposing teams. Investing in a “ghillie” or camouflage suit is critical to maximum concealment from enemy patrols and other snipers. This suit is made from a central binding layer and loose strips of material designed to break up the shape of the human body. Super Snipers typically customize their suits by adding plant-matter or rolling in the dirt or mud in order to deaden color contrasts. With the potential for wearing this suit a long time during battles, comfort is a premium.

One of the great mistakes of the amateur sniper is running out of ammunition. As simple as this may seem, this is a common mishap due to the underestimated length of many Airsoft skirmishes. Many a sniper meets his demise as he emerges prematurely from his secret hideout at the most inopportune time in order to retrieve more pellets. You will always find the wise Super Sniper well stocked with plenty of ammo!

Understanding the role and choosing the right equipment will help the Airsoft warrior to be well on his way to becoming a Super Sniper.

Well it is that time of year again and you are getting ready to plant your garden. As you dig your garden tiller out of the corner of the garage you notice it is full of cobwebs. Looks like you will have to perform some garden tiller maintenance.

So what sort of maintenance do you have to do before starting up your garden tiller for the first time? A lot has to do with the way you prepared your garden tiller for the winter storage. If you drained the fuel or added Sta-Bil to the gasoline you are in better shape than most people.

First it is always recommended that you follow the manufactures guidance. This procedure should be used as a general guideline.

The first thin I always do is give my garden tiller a good washing to get the dust off of it. Next for safety I pull the spark plug wire off. If you did not drain your fuel you will have to now. The best way is to remove the fuel line from the tank and let it drain outside away from anything electrical. Including your cell phone.

Some carburetors have a spring loaded drain on the bottom of the float bowl. If yours has one hold a rag underneath the drain and press in letting the gas drain into the rag. If you have an inline fuel filter it should also be checked or replaced at this time.

Next you will want to clean the air filter. Your garden tiller operates in dusty conditions so it is very important to keep your air filter clean. If you garden tiller has a 2 stage filter remove the both and tap the paper inner filter on the ground to shake out any dirt. Take the foam outer filter and wash it with soap and water. Let it dry thoroughly the re-oil it. Placing it in a plastic bag and adding a little light motor oil, work it into the foam and remove can do this.

Now we move on to the spark plug. Remove it and replace it with the same number that is on the old one. Make sure you check the spark plug gap and set it before re-installing. Most are pre-set from the manufacture but it never hurts to check. You should also place a small amount of ant seize compound on the threads of the spark plug before installing.

Make sure you do not have any gasoline or oil anywhere on your garden till that you may have spilled while working on it. If you do make sure it is completely cleaned off before attempting to start your motor. You can now re-connect you spark plug wire.

Add fresh fuel and check your oil level. Check for leaks. If everything looks good your garden tiller is ready to fire up. Start it and let it warm up. Shut it off and double check for leaks and oil level. If everything looks good your garden tiller is ready for use.

Is your bargain backpack going to be at the expense of your comfort? Often bargains or discounts can come at a price to the customer and it is important to clarify why the discount backpack you are interested in is being sold at a discount. Is it because:

It’s a genuine end-of-season sale?

The backpack is marked or slightly damaged?

The shop really does have lower overheads and so can undercut its competitors?

It’s an inferior brand or make? It’s not a genuine discount at all?

It is important when buying something “cheaper”, such a discount backpacks, not to compromise on what you really need or want as this may cause you painful problems later on. If you are planning to wear a backpack for any length of time you need to pay attention to several important design features to minimise discomfort, back pain and aching shoulders. Remember that after a few hours a backpack can feel exceptionally heavy and cumbersome, so think carefully on the size that you need.

Choose discount backpacks specifically for you and your needs. A general rule of thumb is to have a backpack that holds no more than 15% of your body weight.

Make sure that it feels VERY comfortable in the shop. If you are not sure, try another backpack or go to another retail outlet.

The weight of the backpack needs to be kept above the waist and as close to your back as possible to minimise the strain on your neck and shoulders.

Ensure that the shoulder straps are curved and padded to fit the contour of your body. A strap which fastens around your waist will help distribute the weight of the backpack evenly on your back.

Remember that you don’t have to take everything with you in your discount backpack to cover every eventuality or emergency unless you are planning to go backpacking in a very remote region. How often have you been away on holiday only to come back with a case half full of clothes and shoes you never wore? Ensure the items you do take are versatile and remember that you can always buy things you really need when you are away.

So if you are considering buying a discount backpack, make sure it is a genuine discount backpack and that it is exactly what you want with at least all the features listed above. That way, your discount backpack can only add to an enjoyable holiday experience.

Michael Jennings has had several enjoyable holidays with a pack on his back. For more tips on backpacks and backpacking you can go to his backpacking website ==> http://www.better-backpacks.com

Had the vinyl record finally met its match? In 1982, the compact disc was introduced to the music world and the record album was supposed to fade away like the dreaded eight track tapes that you may have heard your grandfather talk about.

But audiophiles, collectors, DJs and the artists who make the music had kept up the demand for vinyl records throughout the years. Then, came another challenge for the vinyl record: the music downloads…MP3 mania…the digital phenomenon, or whatever you choose to call it.

But something revolutionary is happening. Vinyl is cool again. Teenagers, who once scoffed at their parent’s record collections, now wait in line to get the latest releases. In fact, according to the British Phonograph Industry (BPI), sales of 7″ singles (45 rpm) surpassed the one million mark recently.

Now will this “revival” migrate across the Atlantic and push vinyl sales up in America? Will this be the next “British Invasion,” albeit a different format? Time will tell, but if popular bands like the White Stripes, Primal Scream, Keane and indie favorites the Arctic Monkeys keep insisting their material is released via the seven-inch single, the teens who buy this music will keep responding and sales will continue to grow and so will the format.

Furthermore, it is not just the alternative bands or indie bands that release their material on vinyl. Mainstream artists like Neil Young, Madonna, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and many more have continued to utilize this format and there is excitement about Beck’s new album. Beck is taking a unique approach to album cover design, selling a blank cover with a choice of four sticker sheets individually designed by artists Jasper Goodall and Han Lee. Fans can make their own album covers.

What is the allure, the attraction to the clumsy, hard to handle records? As recent research suggests, some people are drawn in by the physical nature of the record, the actual handling of the music, the interaction between the person, the record and the phonograph. There is almost a ritual to the handling and playing of a phonograph record.

Young people have heard that records sound better than their sterile cd counterparts and digital downloads, now they are experiencing the true sound that vinyl records bring to the music. There is a certain warmth, an ambience that a vinyl record brings to the music. And since the human ear hears in analog sound, and not digital format, vinyl naturally sounds better. So this is the secret that all the audiophiles knew all along!

However, it isn’t just teens who are buying vinyl records. People are also picking up the hobby of collecting records and baby boomers are buying albums they used to own when they were in high school. But it is not only the music that intrigues the masses. Album cover art has long been highly collectible and now you can have your favorite album framed into a beautiful piece of art! It is the best and the only way to preserve these wonderful treasures of musical history.

With this new interest in vinyl, the online community has responded. Besides the online auction sites, from mom and pop sites to major retailers, buying records online has become an irresistible source for record collectors or anyone interested in buying vinyl. Rare vinyl, once thought to be gone forever, is now resurfacing in online shops all over the Internet.

Will this trend continue? One can only guess, but the vinyl record, as prehistoric as it is; will never go out of style.

One of the biggest fashion questions for men is usually the lack of understanding on how to color coordinate and look sharp and smart. In order to stay safe, we always see men wearing clothes with colors maintained within navy, blue tones, black and white, or khakis. While I strongly believe that men can definitely move out of these colors as men’s fashion has evolved tremendously.

We are experiencing men’s clothing which are colored more vibrantly and playing with more patterns at the same time. So what colors should we settle for? We should always wear colors that either warms up our face or bring focus toward it. The most common mistake is men thinks that wearing white is the best of choice since it is considered a universal color. Unfortunately, it is not the case because pale skinned men with light colored hair looks very much paler with white shirts.

It would be better to actually wear earthy colored shirts or medium blue colored shirts. These two tones of colors help to warm up their faces and create more attention toward the face rather the clothing. What about men with highly differentiated complexion and hair colors like light-colored skin with dark hair?

This group of men actually has a lot of rooms to play around with colors. They can easily wear shirts that are light colored or dark colored and yet not shift the focal point away from the face. Men with medium differentiation, for example tanned skin with dark-colored hair, are more suitable to settle for lighter colored shirts rather than dark colored ones. The dark colored shirts against the skin and hair will create a heavily toned down look and not brighten up his face.

Yes you’ve probably not been flogged with a sausage before, and you’ll probably be a bit confused as to why I’ve got an entire website dedicated to an industry I don’t hold much faith in.I really believe that right now (October 10th 2006) the entire ‘industry’ exists because of one company alone and I’d like to use this opportunity to explain why you might have lost money on investment after investment this year.

I’m pretty much out on a limb here. Nobody else seems to share my pessimism, but then look around … where are the autosurf commentators and advisors of last year? Have you received any email updates from these people telling you how much money they’ve lost and how they are trying to recover it? Are they still providing advice and strategies? They aren’t because when the autosurf industry is strong, its actually hard to lose money. Whether you tell people to diversify, or to invest only in one company, the advice will appear to work. It’s only when the industry is not going strong that people follow the old advice which once seemed to work, and effectively flush their money down the toilet.

I’m dedicating this article to the people who are scratching their head this year. The people who’ve consistently lost money in nearly every surf site of 2006 and wonder what is going on. We can’t blame Stormpay any longer, we can’t blame e-gold or SEC regulations so I’m going to tell you exactly why the odds are so hugely stacked against you this year.

1) Due Diligence DOES NOT work.

Due Diligence was the pompous buzzword of 2005. Every forum post required it to be used to assert your status as an autosurf elite. It means “do proper research about a company” before you invest.

Due Diligence makes some very dangerous assumptions …

- It assumes that if you know the name and contact details of a webmaster they will never run away.

- It assumes that the webmaster is competent.

- It assumes that it is hard to falsify DD documents.

2) People are Wrongly Petrified of the Word ‘Ponzi’ Because they Associate it with 12DailyPro’s Collapse.

Before 12DailyPro was around last year, people were not really concerned about how an autosurf made money. Suddenly this Ponzi word began infecting everything to do with autosurfing. People began to associate 12DailyPro with Ponzis with losing all their money. The case is MUCH more complex than that. If it were that simple then other autosurfs would have been hauled in front of the SEC too and this has not happened.

People are convincing themselves that autosurfs are trading in forex, investing in offline opportunites are living a dangerous lie. I’ll leave it again until another time to explain exactly how an autosurf makes money but for now don’t let autosurfs blindside you with this kind of rubbish. A company declaring links with forex traders is much more likely to be a scam than one which keeps its operations more private.

3) People Confuse Reputation With Competence.

People seem to be connecting experience in a forum with an ability to run an autosurf.

Haven’t you noticed that all these new autosurfs and HYIPs are being run by people with no experience at all in running sites. Why do you believe they will learn the ropes and excel?

4) Diversification Doesn’t Work if There are no Good Companies Around

There have been times this year where there has not been even one autosurf worth investing in. Often it is worth getting out of the market for a few months until something credible appears again. If we’d have all done that since January, imagine how much we might have saved.

5) People Believe That Low % Autosurf Sites Are More Stable Than High Percentage Sites

I remember last year hearing a respected autosurf commentator explaining that sites offering 1% interest per day for a year should be considered as ‘bankers’. He was explaining that they are much more stable that high % short-term sites. How many 1% for 1 year sites do you see now? How many of them are being advertised or are attracting attention? There’s about three I can think of and not one would get noticed in a forum.

6) People Still Have Blind Faith in AutoSurf Owners

I’d argue that during 2005 nearly every autosurf owner began their website with the best intentions in mind. They genuinely thought that they’d be able to pay members and keep the site running. I argue that this year the story is different. People have come to realize that when a site closes it is the owner who comes out smiling at the members expense. I believe that some companies (perhaps CompactSurf) set off with a financial target in mind. When they got a certain dollar value in their e-gold account they decided to close. It really is impossible to read the mind of the autosurf webmasters and there is nothing at all you can do about it.

7) People are Still Following Tipsters Like Sheep

Nothing makes me more angry at how irresponsible HYIP and Autosurf commentators have become. Read most of the autosurf blog sites, or read some of the emails that you get from those people and you’ll recognize that there is ALWAYS one company being marketed. As I said, there can be (and there have been) times where not one HYIP or autosurf is credible. Most of the bloggers take the least-bad company and market that. As soon as it has problems they switch their downline into another company, collecting their commissions on the way.

The most common question I’m asked is “Which autosurfs should I invest in?” My standard reply is … invest in the industry leader and nothing else. I’ll define this industry leader later, but I’m keen to keep this article academic and don’t wish to go off-track. Most people are disappointed by my reply.

They were expecting me to whisper a company name in their ear and magically unleash the next way they can make millions. I could pander to demands and reel off the company that pays me the highest referral commission but I very much want my reputation to last longer than a typical autosurf’s lifespan.

To Conclude …

* I hope by now you can appreciate just why you’ve been losing money this year and can see that autosurfing now is very different to how it used to be.

* I do not recommend many companies, simply because it is extremely difficult to predict their motives and their future.

* A wise investor will not search for opportunities which really do not exist.

* I have not yet completed an article about what new strategy you should adopt .. but it is in my to-do list. If you understand the gravity of my arguments here then this update is essential reading.

If you are looking for fine French wine and food, consider the Languedoc-Roussillon region of south central France. You may find a bargain, and I hope that you’ll have fun on this fact-filled wine education tour in which we review a local white Viognier.

Among the eleven wine-growing regions of France Languedoc-Roussillon ranks largest in actual area and is number four in wine grape acreage. This area, which includes the Midi, was once known for producing huge quantities of questionable quality wine called vin ordinaire. Times change and partly because of Australian winemakers, this region produces an increasing number of fine wines. Unlike most other regions of France, many Languedoc-Roussillon wines, such as the one reviewed below, are identified by their grape variety on the label.

Don’t think of this region as being uniform. For example, Languedoc is mostly flat, but Roussillon tends to be hilly. Furthermore, several select areas with their own unique combination of microclimate and soil (terroir) make their own AOC (Appellation d’Origine Controle) wines, which are usually more expensive. Sooner or later we’ll be looking at some of these wines in our series. There are almost 50 AOC wine appellations in Languedoc-Roussillon; covering the entire range, red, white, ros

What is an UGLY URL? An UGLY URL is one that is long and has special characters in it. It could look much like this: http://www.yourdomain.com/get.php?ref=yourname&value=6.

How would you get a UGLY URL like that? When you begin promoting other peoples products you will be assigned a URL to promote the product. In many cases these URL’s are not pretty at all. In fact they are darned right UGLY.

Now that you know what an UGLY URL is and how you might end up with one what can you do about it? There are many options. You could create what is called a redirect which is a way of sending someone from one URL to another.

Many hosting companies have the capability of setting up a redirect in there control panel. This method works well but takes a bit of time to setup each time you need a new redirect.

Another method is to create an index.html file or a index.php file with code in it to redirect anyone who goes to that page to another. This method will only allow one redirect per website and many people will want to have many redirects for that site.

You can use the same method but instead name the file something different which will allow you to redirect many URL’s.

The other option is to go to one of the redirect sites. http://www.tinyurl.com is one such website that will allow you to redirect those UGLY URL’s.

Many times you will also want to cloak your URL. What is cloaking? Well when you cloak your URL it will never show the actual UGLY URL at all. All the other methods above will show the UGLY URL when they arrive at that page.

There is however one other method that is convenient, personalized and cloaked. This is a piece of software that you would load on your server. The software will personalize your UGLY URL by giving it your domain name. It’s very fast to add a new URL it can be done in less than a minute and upon arrival at the site you will not see the UGLY URL displayed.

Some versions of this software will have added features that include click statistics and places to store the information of the site so you can keep track of your affiliate programs.

In summary I suggest you find one of the programs available and install it on your own server. It has been proven that this method will increase your click-thru’s, opt-ins and sales.

Who wouldn’t want to make money online? You choose your hours, you can work from any location in the world and you can leverage your time in a way that makes having a job seem like the biggest waste of time imaginable!

However, it’s only easy to make money online if you do your homework first. The best way to make easy money online is surely to follow what other successful internet entrepreneurs do, rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. You could waste a ton of money and a lot of time trying to make money with, for instance, Google Adwords, or on eBay or with affiliate marketing and so on, if you simply log onto the website, create an account and start trading. There are proven techniques, tricks of the trade and short cuts to enable you to make money online quickly and successfully. There are also a lot of mistakes to be made and a lot of money to be wasted if you don’t know what you are doing.

Tip One is to study first, make money second.

So many people want everything for free and feel that if they have to buy information, they are somehow being ripped off. I bought a stack of information when I started out, and don’t feel that any of my money was wasted - yes, some information helped me more than others, but it was all a learning curve, and saved me wasting a fortune making mistakes. I learnt from the mistakes others had made instead. Think of it this way - if, in one year from now you are earning enough to walk away from the day job, would it be worth ‘going back to school’ and studying your new career path before you get started?

Tip Two is to have a variety of online businesses - some you will take to more than others, some will pay out sooner than others, but at the end of the day why put all your hopes on one business stream when you can have several?

Tip Three. Be patient. Give yourself a year or 18 months to really give your online career a chance. If you don’t see results as soon as you want them, don’t give up only to try something else that you may not stick at either. It takes time, for instance, for new websites to get ranked in the search engines, and although you can learn how to create a website that will rank well, you cannot cheat the system. What you can do, is learn search engine optimisation techniques and put them all into practice, which will reap you big rewards further down the line. (There’s a free e-book on my website about this).

Making money online can give you total financial freedom - you have to want it enough to work hard initially, so that you can then sit back and enjoy it. Follow the leaders, don’t imagine you don’t need anyone’s help, be a ’sponge’ and learn all you can and kiss the day job ‘goodbye’.

For a free ebook that details all the different and best ways to make money online just click on my website and download your copy.
