Law Firm Internet Marketing An Executive Summary Using The Q&A Format - Part II

July 6th, 2008 by blogofarticles

You mentioned “…your page ranking.” What is page ranking and how do I get my pages ranked in law firm Internet marketing?

You don’t have to do anything to get your web pages ranked in law firm Internet marketing. It happens when the search engines send their spiders out to read your site. Google Page Rank is the standard on the Internet for success since 47% of the people on the Internet go to Google to do their searching and the other major search engines (Yahoo and MSN) use similar models as Google. If you rank high at Google you will rank high anywhere. The Google Page Rank system is from 0 to 10 with 10 being high and 0 being low. Probably more than 98% of sites on the Internet are ranked 0, 1, or 2. I do recommend you go to Google and get a Google Tool Bar since then you can see the Google Page Rank they have given you and every other webpage you ever visit. This is a very useful tool in law firm Internet marketing. First it tells you how you are doing with your website. Next it tells you how well your competitors are doing with their websites, which tells you what you need to do to get a higher Google Page Rank so you are above them in the search engine results. Finally, it tells you how well your vendor has done for you in law firm Internet marketing and if you are searching for a new vendor it can tell you if they know what they are doing since they should show you sites they have built that have good Google Page Ranks. For sure that vendor’s site should have a good Google Page Rank don’t you think? There is another ranking system called Alexa that is not one you need to be as aware of based on Alexa toolbar users (well over 10 million of them last I knew) and where they are going. You can get their toolbar at http://Alexa.com. Alexa ranking is based on the lowest number being the best and the highest number being the worst. A low number is under 500,000 thus indicating a website that is in the top 1% of all websites in the world in terms of the traffic that comes to their site. For example http://CNN.com is #26, http://GE.com is 4,719, Google is #3, Yahoo is #1 and MSN is #2. The poor Alexa ranks are in the millions with most websites on the Internet being Alexa ranked “no data” not being at all unusual. You site is likely to be “no data” ranked, as are most lawyer sites by far. So be more concerned about your Google Rank.

You have been talking about “competitors” a lot in. Who are my competitors in law firm Internet marketing?

Your competitors in law firm Internet marketing are those people who are trying to rank high at the search engines for the same keywords as you are trying to rank high on. If your down the street lawyer competitor knows nothing about keyword research and how to build a law firm Internet marketing system then he will not be much of a competitor for you on the Internet. Fortunately or unfortunately most lawyers are doing it all wrong with vendors who are over charging and under delivering. You have a great opportunity to get out in front of the pack and stay there because by the time they wake up you will be so far out in front they almost certainly won’t be able to catch you in law firm Internet marketing.

Some way back you mentioned “RSS”. What is RSS in law firm Internet marketing?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication”. Trying to stay up with all the new information on the Internet is clearly difficult given the size and growth of the Internet. What if you had a really simple way to get the new information posted at your favorite websites or get their newsletters without them getting caught in spam filters? That is what RSS is designed to do. You sign up on the web site of one of your favorites for RSS and they will send information (text, audio or video) to your RSS news reader on your computer or to your web based news reader (I use http://Yahoo.com). Where can you get these news readers? Here are some options:

For Windows
http://www.Newzcrawler.com
http://www.newsgator.com/NGOLProduct.aspx?ProdId=FeedDemon
http://www.awasu.com/

For Mac OS X
http://www.newsfirerss.com/
http://www.newsgator.com/NGOLProduct.aspx?ProdID=NetNewsWire

For Web Based
http://www.bloglines.com/
http://my.yahoo.com/
http://www.newsgator.com/ngs/default.aspx

While this technology is still new it is growing. Some Internet marketing experts think it will overtake email as the “killer application” on the Internet in a few years since it fixes the spam problem and reduces the number of newsletters coming to people’s inboxes. It is good but probably not that good. Right now I would put it on your site as a useful tool in law firm Internet marketing if you offer a newsletter or add content regularly since people who use RSS are going to be very interested prospects if they sign up on your site using RSS.

You said earlier “over charging and under delivering.” What should I expect to spend on an Internet marketing site with a vendor that can deliver excellent results?

You may or may not have to “start over” if you have a site now. Also know some vendors charge by the hour, some by the project and some a mixture of the two. If you are looking for a “value vendor” (one who is not the cheapest but also not the most expensive) to build a new website with all of the factors I have spoken about in place you will need to expect to spend from $8,000 to $12,000 for the new website. At this level of spending the website should have 20 pages or maybe a few more in total with the entire “on site” SEO in place. The fee for the site should include the services of a Webmaster (think of this person as being much like a “general contractor” who is building your dream house), keyword researcher, web designer, technician, and website copywriter. If you are looking for someone who is going to do the ongoing webmaster role (think here of having a professional Internet marketer on you team) taking you from where you are now with an existing site to excellent results then work with you ongoing to assess your current website circumstances in detail, make a plan for how to improve your circumstances via your current vendor, manage your current vendor so they implement that plan (or if necessary make the recommendation to you to leave your current vendor as well as find you another more appropriate vendor) you can expect to pay around $70 to $90 per hour to get a quality USA based person to do the job for you.

If you want to view his in depth “Internet Marketing Guide” you can go to http://www.CannonFireMarketing.com. Richard’s guide will take you much, much deeper than this executive briefing can. Richard is one of twenty-five SBI Certified Webmasters that you could “shop” if you desire at: http://directory.sitesell.com/certified/index.html. In the interest of full disclosure Richard built my medium size site (and growing) and has been a valuable addition to my team. Ken Evoy, MD, that I mentioned earlier, developed the CTPM model of Internet marketing that currently serves over 30,000 primarily small businesses with their Internet marketing needs, founded and owns the SBI system.

That is more than I expected to spend on law firm Internet marketing. Are there other options?

Yes. If you don’t currently want to budget for $8,000 to $12,000 you could begin with a 10 to 15 page site but be sure to do the keyword research (Richard Cannon can do this for you and is a master at it, one of the other SBI Certified Webmasters or maybe your current vendor). The lower number of pages would bring the cost down considerably. Later you can add pages (a must in law firm Internet marketing - like a page per month for solo and small firms). You could also go to http://guru.com (a virtual marketplace complete with a mediated process) where you can find cheap vendors (think India, Singapore, New Zealand, South Africa and Europeans here at $12 to $50 per hour) as well as value vendors (think $50 to $100 per hour in the USA). If all you want is a “brochure holder” type of site (so you don’t look behind the times) you can get one of those built without the keyword research for maybe as little as $800 to $1,000 by a value vendor or half that or less by a “cheap vendor”, however, you will likely “throw that away” when you decide to move up to law firm Internet marketing type site. If you really, really want to go inexpensive you could go to http://Yahoo.com’s home page and scroll down on the left side of the page to “small business” and click on that where you can buy something as a decent brochure holder type of site at a cheap price per month.

OK friends, we have completed part two on law firm Internet marketing. In part three we will cover should you have a vendor that has done lawyers websites in the past over a “plain” vendor, why do I keep mentioning the number of pages on a site, how to avoid overpriced vendors, what your domain name should be, intellectual property issues to consider and more. So keep on reading with part three to learn more on law firm Internet marketing.

How Many Links Do I Need to Get High Rankings?

July 5th, 2008 by blogofarticles

If you are pursuing a search engine optimization campaign, your link popularity will become an issue. So, how many links do you need to get high rankings?

How Many Links Do I Need to Get High Rankings?

Before I go hog wild, I should probably define link popularity. The term simply refers to the number of sites that have links pointing to your precious site. At least, this is the simplest definition. Yes, it gets more complicated.

When considering link counts, one has to realize it is a subjective game. Some sites will get high rankings with only a smaller number of links while others require far more. You should use this information as a guide, not a line drawn in the sand. Okay, so what are the numbers? Typically, I shoot for 100 links reported on Google. Google only reports a small percentage of the links it finds to your site, but 100 is generally a good number to shoot for. I have sites with as low as 40 links that have top rankings and others with as many as 300 that are not as high as I like. It just depends, but 100 is a solid goal. I believe Google may have even stated as much, but it may have been a dream.

While links counts are nice, solid things to focus on, they can be misleading. Links are not created equally. Reciprocal links have low value in my opinion, to wit, 100 reciprocal links probably are not going to get you high rankings. Inbound links from articles are better, but not as great as they used to be since blogs tend to publish articles now. Still, 100 links reported by Google that are generated through articles seems to come close to doing the trick. There is, however, an even better type of inbound link.

You can get by with far fewer links if you get high quality sites to link to you. The sites needed to be highly relevant to the subject matter of your site. They also need to have high page rank counts. Finally, the older they are, the better. How do you find them? Well, who are the biggest, baddest sites in the rankings for your industry? Which sites do you see ranked in the top 10 again and again when you check your rankings? Those are the sites you want to get links from. Buy, beg, borrow and steal them if you can…err, don’t steal them, but you get my point.

When setting a goal for link popularity for search engine optimization, the number of links you need isn’t really the issue. Instead, it is the quality of links.

The Andy Griffith Show (Season 4) DVD Review

July 4th, 2008 by blogofarticles

One of the most beloved shows in television history, The Andy Griffith Show takes its viewers back to a simpler time of small town America, apple pie, and black and white television… The trademark whistling theme song is one of the most recognizable in history, and the duration of the show in syndicated reruns is unrivaled by its peers. The Andy Griffith Show follows the exploits of the small town of Mayberry and its family values, no nonsense sheriff Andy. Widowed, and father to a small boy named Opie (Ron Howard), Andy is joined in Mayberry by his sidekick Deputy Barney Fife, his relative and housekeeper Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), and a host of other eccentric characters.

But the show stealer is Barney Fife (Don Knotts) who plays the role of a sometimes incompetent, kooky deputy always in over his head. The onscreen dynamic between Griffith and Knotts is truly magical. Both men would go on to heralded careers in show business with Knotts starring in numerous roles, such as Mr. Furley on Three’s Company, and Griffith as the title star of Matlock. And Ron Howard (Opie) would go on to establish himself as one of Hollywood’s most well-known directors…

The Andy Griffith Show (Season 4) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Opie the Birdman” in which Opie becomes the adoptive father of several orphaned baby birds after he inadvertently kills their mother with his slingshot. Developing a personal attachment to the birds, Opie struggles with the notion that once they’re grown, he’ll have to set them free… Other notable episodes include “Barney’s Sidecar” in which Barney acquires a sidecar for his motorcycle a local auction, but his daily antics quickly have all of Mayberry up in arms, and “Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C.” in which Gomer Pyle joins the Marine Corps in order to become a man, but he’s failing miserably until Andy convinces the drill instructor to take Gomer under his wing…

12 Reasons Your Website Is Failing

July 3rd, 2008 by blogofarticles

Most Saturdays, I conduct a free networking and brainstorming call, where we critique and give makeovers to 2-3 websites. On the weeks that we don’t review websites, the calls are generally “open discussion” of Internet marketing issues.

These calls are just another tool in my very effective marketing arsenal, and you can join them by registering at: http://WillieCrawford.com/free-brainstorming-calls.html

During most weeks, I get dozens of joint venture proposals, and several potential new clients who want me to evaluate the potential of a project that they’re working on.

Many of the joint ventures that I turn down, and many of the clients that I reject, are for the same reason. Their websites are so poorly written that I know that the websites won’t convert. I rarely do outside copywriting, but I often suggest revamping their websites before they move forward.

With the sites reviewed on my calls, and with the sites I look at for other reasons, I notice many of the same mistakes. Here are 12 of the most common:

1) The site has no focus. A website should be designed with its primary purpose in mind. You should have ONE thing that you’d really like most visitors to your page to do. Almost everything on that page should lead the visitors toward deciding to take that primary action. Nothing on the page should distract them and “lead them off down other trails.”

Common primary actions that you’ll want your visitor to take are to join your list, buy your product, download a free trial version, or join an online community. Make sure that you know what you want your visitors to focus on, and get rid of the other distractions. It’s been proven that if you give your visitors too many choices, or confuse them, they will simply choose to leave!

2) The site has no email capture mechanism. Most honest copywriters will tell you that in most Internet marketing type niches, a 1-2% response rate to a sales letter is VERY respectable. You’ve worked very hard to get visitors to your site, and if you completely ignore the 98% who don’t buy you’re not going to be in business very long.

Incorporate a form into your website that gets them into an autoresponder so that you can follow-up with them. Offer them a free report, access to an MP3 on the topic, or access to an exclusive community. Get them to opt-in, and then you can follow up with them on their topic of interest.

Your opt-in form can be set up “in-line” as a part of the webpage, and even take them back to the point on the webpage where they were reading before they stopped to opt-in. You can also have an exit popup, or pop-under, that offers them a freebie as they’re leaving your site. Once they’ve decided to leave, you’ll probably NEVER see them again unless you have a way to invite them back. An autoresponder is the perfect way to do this automatically.

3) The owner is “hiding behind the website.” Web surfers are skeptical and distrusting. You need to let them know that there is a real person behind the site. Give them contact information, show them your photo, and even let them hear you. You can easily add audio or video to your website, and allow it to “touch” your visitor on such a deeper level. When people hear your voice or see you talking, and get to watch your body language, you communicate so much more effectively than just the written word.

To add audio to your website, all you need is a microphone plugged into your computer. To add video to your website, all you really need is a webcam plugged into your computer. There are services that will take this audio or video, allow you to edit it with a few clicks of your mouse, and then stream it from their servers or upload it to your server.

A totally amazing service that I use is called Audio Acrobat. I use it to have customers, subscribers, etc., call in and leave testimonials. I use it to record some teleseminars, interviews, product recommendations, and for dozens of other purposes. I do record video from my webcam to this service too. You can also upload video recorded on a regular video camera to this service, and then stream it from their website.

As I said, I LOVE Audio Acrobat. If you want to check it out, you can get a free 30-day trial from here: http://williec.audioacrobat.com/ It’s where I have dozens of testimonial lines, dozens of audios, and a few videos. It’s also how I save on my web hosting bandwidth ;-)

4) The owner of the site offers no credentials The very first question I ask when reading a magazine article, watching a television show, or reading a web page, is “What makes this person qualified to teach ME this topic.” Most web surfers don’t trust you, and believe that most Internet sites are out to rip them off. You need to show them that your experience and training makes you qualified to teach them the topic. In addition to formal credentials a professional looking website also shows that you are a serious business person. Don’t skimp on your website’s design!

5) Not offering proof of statements. It’s natural for you to say how great you and your product are. Therefore, that means nothing to potential customers. Get other to share how your product improved their lives. Use media interviews, and statements by officials in professional organizations, to provide third-party validation.

Testimonials with photos, audio, or video, are very powerful. Testimonials with just a set of initials, or a with just a first name, have NO credibility.

6) Offering the wrong payment options. The majority of Internet users prefer to pay via credit card. If your product allows you to do it, and still make a satisfactory profit, consider taking orders through an answering service or call center, via fax, via snail mail, and through third party processors such as Paypal as well. Evaluate each of these options and decide which of these make sense for you.

As an aside, I once considered even offering my customers the option to order C.O.D (cash on delivery). My local postmaster strongly suggested that I NOT do that and also pointed out that it’s almost never done these days. He convinced me that it was more trouble than it was worth :-)

7) Using the wrong or too many fonts. When you use different sizes and colors of letters on your webpage you need to have a real reason. When you highlight or underline text on your webpage you need to have a logical reason.

As your site visitor reads your webpage, he will subconsciously ask himself why you emphasized a certain word or sentence on the page. If you had no logic reason, you pull him out of your message as his mind “wrestles with the why.”

You page should be structured such that a “skimmer” could just read the headlines and sub headlines and get the message. He should be able to read just the highlighted text and get the gist of your webpage. He should be able to just go to the bottom of the page, read the “P.S.” where you’ve restated your offer, and order without being forced to read the rest of the page… if he’s in a hurry. 8) Using header graphics that distract from the message. Your header graphic should spell out or emphasize the main benefit of your product. It should be simple enough that the visitor is not forced to waste time trying to decipher its meaning.

Sometimes, it’s better not to even have a header graphic. This is something you should test. You want to get your visitor reading the text on your page, and discovering how your product can help him, as soon as practical. This is what will sell him… not cute or fancy graphics.

9) Not focusing on benefits rather than features. Don’t tell your visitor how great the product is, tell him how it will improve his life. Your testimonials should also provide concrete, and very specific, examples of how it improved someone else’s life.

10) Focusing on “I” rather than “you!” Look at your webpage and make sure that it talks about the customer and his problem more than it talks about you, your company, and your products. Your customers don’t really care about you. They care about how you can help them! Read through you copy and make sure that it answers that question. Make sure that you’re not talking about yourself too much, and that when you do talk about yourself, it’s answering the question of how you can help the reader.

11) Not emphasizing the guarantee. When a customer purchases with a credit card, or through certain third-party processors, the guarantee is implied anyway. So, why not make your guarantee a selling point? If a customer goes to Visa or MasterCard and states that they are unhappy with their purchase from you, they will get their money back in most cases… and you’ll pay an extra fee for the “chargeback.” If a customer goes to Clickbank or Paypal with a complaint, they will end up issuing a refund in many cases.

Make it easy on yourself by offering and honoring a guarantee. It will increase your conversion rate, and unless your product is total JUNK, it won’t increase your refund rate.

12) Not using a P.S. Many busy surfers will jump right to the end of your webpage and read the P.S.(s). If they were somewhat pre-sold before they arrived at your page, many will go ahead and purchase at that time. Use the P.S.(s) to restate your offer, emphasize the guarantee, showcase your bonuses, and to emphasize any scarcity factor in the offer.

The bottom line is that, if your sales page is horrific, it’s pointless to drive traffic to the site. Fix the page before you do anything else, or you’re just wasting time and frustrating yourself.

A well-written webpage is so pivotal to the sales process, that many professional copywriters will often rewrite bad sales letters. When they discover great products that they KNOW would sell if the products’ owners just had better copy, they will often rewrite bad sales letters, pre-sell the products, and then send the “ready-to-buy” customers directly to the order form.

My friend and colleague, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, recognized the value in revamping bad sales letters so much that he went as far as to set up a membership site, offering members rewritten sales letters for Clickbank products in hot niches. You can check out what Dr. Mike has done, and join his site, if he hasn’t already closed memberships, at: http://FixingTerribleWebpages.com Tell him that I sent you.

Fix the 12 common errors covered above, and your website will be more effective than 99% of direct sales websites out there. Don’t fix these mistakes, and your sales won’t increase, but at-least now you will understand why.

Cheers (Season 5) DVD Review

July 2nd, 2008 by blogofarticles

One of the greatest television comedies in history, Cheers is an absolute “must see” for anyone who’s ever had a regular hangout “where everybody knows your name”. The shows centers itself around the friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers. The bar is owned by former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Sam has three employees - bartender Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson) and waitresses Carla Tortelli (Rhea Pearlman) and Diane Chambers (Shelley Long). Noted psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammar) and his wife Dr. Lilith Sternin Crane (Bebe Neuwirth) are regulars at the bar (with Grammar later starring in his own series spin-off, Frasier). Regular barflies Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) round out a strong supporting cast.

The Cheers (Season 5) DVD offers a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere in which the audience discovers that Sam’s marriage proposal from the previous year’s season finale was directed at Diane. However, Diane feels that Sam is on the rebound from Janet, so she declines - requesting a more romantic setting for their engagement. When Sam proposes on a boat, Diane turns him down again then spends several episodes attempting to get Sam to propose once again. Meanwhile, Carla falls in love with Boston Bruins goalie Eddie LeBec (Jay Thomas) and John Cleese makes a guest appearance as a famous marriage counselor and friend of Frasier Crane. The season ends with Diane leaving Sam at the altar in order to finish a novel a publishing house is interested in…

Astrology’s Cancer Lucky Days; Horoscope modifiers from Numerology

July 2nd, 2008 by blogofarticles

People born in the date range of June 22nd through July 22nd, have the Astrology sun sign of Cancer the Crab. As a Cancer, you probably know your basic Horoscope, but did you know there are six days every month that are lucky for you, just because of your sign? Just what are Cancer’s lucky days?

===> Your Birth Date

In Numerology, birth dates are lucky days for you. So, go ahead and add your birth date as a lucky day. For example, actor Tom Cruse was born on July 3rd, 1962, so he should add July 3rd to the list of July lucky days.

===> Universal Days

Days in which the Universal day number matches your Life Path number are considered lucky for you. The universe supports your actions on these days. Your Life Path number is calculated by adding all the digits of your birth date by fadic addition. Tom Cruse’s Life Path number is a (1) as calculated below:

Life Path number = (07 + 03 + 1962) = (1972) = (1 + 9 + 7 + 2) = (19) = (10) = (1).

As an example, July 12th, 2007 is a lucky day for Tom Cruse. The Universal Day number is one which matches his Life Path number.

Universal Day (07/12/2007) = (7 + 12 + 2007) = (2026) = (10) = (1)

Doing this calculation for every day is tedious; you can pre-calculate the year and month sum, (7 + 2007) = (7), and then just add this value to the day number, and then sum the result. (7 + 12) = (19) = (1).

===> Cancer Calendar Dates

Six days of each month are specifically lucky for Cancer. They are as follows:

For January: 3rd, 9th, 11th, 13th, 16th, and the 29th.

For February: 7th, 8th, 13th, 14th, 22nd, and the 27th.

For March: 5th, 7th, 12th, 20th, 21st, and the 25th.

For April: 2nd, 7th, 8th, 12th, 13th, and the 29th.

For May: 1st, 5th, 10th, 11th, 18th, and the 19th.

For June: 2nd, 7th, 10th, 15th, 24th, and the 28th.

For July: 3rd, 4th, 7th, 20th, 22nd, and the 25th.

For August: 5th, 8th, 9th, 21st, 22nd, and the 30th.

For September: 5th, 12th, 13th, 19th, 27th, and the 28th.

For October: 1st, 3rd, 11th, 15th, 16th, and the 30th.

For November: 6th, 7th, 16th, 17th, 27th, and the 30th.

For December: 4th, 9th, 13th, 24th, 30th, and the 31st.

Virginia Schools Students Face New Type Of Study Program This Fall

July 1st, 2008 by blogofarticles

Virginia schools students recently have returned to school. Along with the studies and coursework they expected to face, they have a new program with which to deal - a bullying prevention program.

Bullies are prevalent in all schools today. It has been a growing problem for the past decade. The emotional trauma experienced by victims of bullying is, in some cases, beyond belief. The results of bullying, both upon the victim and the bully, also are significant. We have seen some of these results in our news headlines - shootings at schools, suicides, self-mutilation through cutting, depression and extreme emotional distress - and these only the victims. Bullies, many times, develop very serious violent behavior with many ending up in prison; abuse their spouses, children and/or elderly parents; and sexually abuse others.

Bullying has become a real problem in the Virginia schools, with 12,709 incidents of crime and violence against Virginia schools students reported in the 2003-2004 school year. These incidents included physical assault with and without weapons, threats, bullying and one attempted rape. Another 89 incidents were reported on Virginia schools property that involved firearms. Another 21,128 incidents of fighting with no or minor injuries were reported by the Virginia schools, and 1,336 incidents of fighting that resulted in serious injury.

Bullying occurs when one or more students repeatedly subject other students to negative actions over a period of time. Bullying includes intentional physical attacks (such as hitting), obscene gestures, intentional exclusion from a group, and verbal attacks (such as threatening, malicious teasing, and spreading rumors).

Bullies are impulsive and hotheaded. They generally (but not always) have more physical strength than other children their age. Bullies lack empathy and have dominant personalities, a need to control and prove they are tough. They defy authority, do not conform to rules, have a positive attitude toward violence, and have poor conflict-resolution skills. Many times, bullies are children from abusive families - but not always.

The Virginia schools are determined to stop the abuse in their schools. They have teamed with the Virginia Department of Health and Virginia Commonwealth University to implement the Olweus Bully Prevention Program, which began this fall. The program is funded by a grant of $290,615 from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for each of the three years the program will run, between 2006 and 2009.

The Olweus Program was first used throughout Norway and addresses individual and bystander behaviors. It promotes social skills to eliminate the negative interaction between bullies and victims. It will promote parent and community education and collaboration within the Virginia schools.

According to State Health Commissioner Robert B. Stroube, M.D., M.P.H., the Olweus Program will directly address the behavioral tendencies that lead to becoming a bully or a victim. It will work to prevent all forms of violence in the Virginia schools that is directed by or at children and adolescents.

The U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration found the program has many benefits. The Olweus Program:

? Reduced student reports of being bullied and bullying others by 30 to 70 percent;

? Significantly reduced students’ reports of general antisocial behavior, such as vandalism, fighting and theft;

? Significantly improved classroom order and discipline; and

? Fostered a more positive attitude toward schoolwork and school.

The Virginia schools expect similar results across the commonwealth. Lessening bullying in the Virginia schools, means the Virginia schools students can put more focus on their coursework and scholastic achievement, and teachers can focus less on discipline and more on teaching. It is a plus for everyone.

Designer Inspired Handbags: Simply Marvelous Beauty

June 30th, 2008 by blogofarticles

Everyone - man and woman - can find a use for a handbag; a good handbag is even better. The three most important steps in any handbags life is the designer (the idea person: the parent), the manufacturer (the creator), and the retailer (the seller). Each step of the way is arguably as important as the other steps. All handbags will have reached this step sometime in its fabrication process. When a designer seems to have been touched by a higher being to create a design that is a little slice of heaven, the designer gains a better reputation as a handbag designer and brings you more and more of the designs you like. Often, the popularity of a designer will increase the price of the handbags that designer design. Then along comes those designer inspired handbags.

I have heard it said that imitation is the ultimate form of a compliment. Perhaps there is truth in this saying. When a designer’s handbags are so popular that they require a replica, imitation, inspired, or fake designers to create something similar, that is the biggest achievement. These designers change the handbag in a slight way sometimes as easy as changing the initials used on the handbag. For example, Louis Vuitton always has a signature LV on his handbags, some designer inspired handbags may have LW. Coach is another good example. All Coach handbags have a double C design on the fabric, designer inspired handbags may have a CG instead of the double C.

These handbags never claim to be authentic. To do so is illegal and a travesty to you and the original designer. However, replicas and inspired handbags meet all requirements for staying legal. They offer you design, fashion, and style at an affordable rate. Most people can not easily afford $10000 USD for that exquisite handbag. A designer inspired handbag may be able to get you the same look and feel of that handbag for around $100 USD.

Maybe you are wondering why anyone would want a designer handbag if they can get a lookalike for so cheap. Well, the keyword is “cheap”. The designer handbags offer a higher quality in material and fabrication. A designer inspired handbag may look beautiful and sexy, but usually the quality is significantly lower than the original. The inspired handbag may have a weaker thread or weaker hems, or a replica handbag could have a low quality of closures and clasps that will rust with time; you should always check those straps or handle for loose strings. Fraying thread is definitely the enemy of those designer inspired handbags.

Shopping for inspired handbags can be a lot of fun if you know where to shop. One of the most popular places to shop these days is the Internet. Surprisingly, the Internet has caused a boom in the handbag industry. Of course, replica and inspired handbags fall into that same class. When you shop online for your designer or replica handbag needs, you should always check for the reputation of the company or person you are purchasing from before you buy. There are a lot of horror stories on the Internet. Of course, you can choose to find your designer replica handbags a little closer to home with any number of those specialty stores that are ready to meet your every need.

“What Makes Network Marketing Good?” #1. Terry’s Story.

June 30th, 2008 by blogofarticles

Flexibility. E.g., A chance missed for a newly discarded gal of 63, whose story follows below, to have built up something for herself, from home. But it’s never too late…

Story.

“I was stunned and devastated when, on our 40th wedding anniversary, my husband presented me with a divorce.”

In a wonderful piece entitled Paradise Lost (Domestic Division) (NY Times Jan 1, 2006) Terry Martin Hekker describes how her entire belief system came undone on that day. It was particularly embarrassing and shocking to her because, it so happened that 25 years ago, she wrote an Op-Ed article for the same paper, on the satisfaction of being a full-time housewife. She was convinced that homemaking and raising her children was the most challenging and rewarding job she could ever want.

She had written that she came from a “long line of women, most more Edith Bunker than Betty Friedan, who never knew they were unfulfilled…they took pride in a clean, comfortable home and satisfaction in serving a good meal because no one had explained that the only work worth doing is that for which you were paid.”

In subsequent years she lectured across the U.S., appeared on the “Today” show and told her story of why she thought her choice was a valid one. But that was back then.

Today, she writes that after talking to a few other discarded wives after long years of marriage, that “we had a lot in common with our outdated kitchen appliances. Like them, we were serviceable, low maintenance, front loading, self-cleaning and (relatively) frost free. Also, like them we had warranties that had run out. Our husbands sought sleeker models with features we lacked who could execute tasks we’d either never learned or couldn’t perform without laughing.”

“Like most loyal wives of our generation, we’d contemplated eventual widowhood, but never thought we’d end up divorced.”

And she adds, “And divorced doesn’t begin to describe the pain of this process. ‘Cancelled’ is more like it. It began with my credit cards, then my health insurance and checkbook, until, finally, like a used postage stamp, I felt cancelled, too.”

And the injustice she felt?

“He got to take his girlfriend to Cancun, while I got to sell my engagement ring to pay the roofer. When I filed my first nonjoint tax return, it triggered the shocking notification that I had become eligible for food stamps.”

She notes that she got alimony but that the amount was less than she was used to getting for household expenses, and that she had to use that money to pay bills.

Bills “I’d never seen before: mortgage, taxes, insurance and car payments. And that princely sum was awarded for only four years, the judge suggesting that I go for job training when I turned 67.”

“Not only was I unprepared for divorce itself, I was utterly lacking in skills to deal with the brutal aftermath.”

Today, she writes, that she worries and wonders about the young mothers of today, “educated, employed, self-sufficient” who drop out of the work force when they have children. “Maybe they’ll be fine.” But “The fragility of modern marriage suggests that at least half of them may not be.”

Back to the question: What makes Network Marketing good?

#1: Flexibility. In case.

Post script to Terry’s story.

If she had it to do over again, Terry writes:

“I’d still marry the man I married and have my children…they are my treasure…But I would have used the years after my youngest started school to further my education. I could have amassed two doctorates using the time and energy I gave to charitable and community causes and been better able to support myself.”

However, what if she had known about a good company with a good product line she used and loved herself? With the flexibility of time and income of NM, Terry could also have maybe amassed 50 or 100 customers every year for those 20 years. And be earning a bit from all of them over that time, and today.

What if she had taken those 5-10 hours a week, for 20 years, and maybe got 100 customers per year? That’d have resulted in 2000 customers after the 20 years she describes.

A $5/mo profit on each one today would be a good sum to have coming in each month, wouldn’t it?

Flexibility. To build something part time from home when you’re lucky enough to be supported by a mate during those years, or you have another job. After all, it’s not just being “discarded” that the income will come in handy, but also if the mate remains and needs your help. Or if you just want to take a year off.

That, in my opion, might be a better option for many women than a couple of doctorates which, by themselves guarantee no income. Customers and a few resellers, however, represent regular monthly income.

Do you know someone like Terry? There are ways to do things with this business, yes even now, at 63. And what about all those younger women still raising their family, or contemplating having one? Have you asked them what THEY are you doing NOW, for themselves, to plan for their “what if”? Show them Terry’s story. They probably have their own from THEIR families.

After all, most discarded but loyal wives had no clue that shock was coming, especially after all those years. That’s a pretty big and well defined audience, think, ladies?
