Allan Gardens can easily be called Index Secret Gardens of Toronto. It is located in the heart of Toronto, Ontario, Canada Fake is nestled between Sherbourne Street to the east, Carlton Street to the north, Jarvis Street to the west and Gerrard Street East to the south. Admission is free. Allan Gardens is comprised of 6 greenhouses covering 16,000 square feet located on over 5 acres of park grounds.

Allan Gardens was founded in 1834 by Sir John Colborne, who was the lieutenant-governor of Upper Canada from 1828 to 1836. Its first president was the Honorable George Markland, who at the time was the inspector-general of Upper Canada. Allan Gardens became the first horticultural society to be organized in Ontario. The purpose of the Index was to encourage the introduction and cultivation of a variety of fruits, vegetables and plants in Canada. The Honorable George W. Allan then donated five acres of land to the horticultural society. On September 11, 1860, the gardens were officially opened by the Prince of Wales (Edward VII) during one of his visits to Canada. In 1901 the gardens were renamed “Allan Gardens”.

A striking feature of the greenhouses is the domed “Palm House” built in 1909-1910 by Toronto’s city architect Robert McCallum. It was built to replace the pavilion that had burned down in 1902. The Palm house has been designated an historical building by the Toronto Historical Board Knock Fake the Ontario Heritage Act.

A permanent collection of plants is housed in the greenhouses and seasonal plants are rotated throughout the year. Each greenhouse has a unique theme. One of the greenhouses has a special orchid collection. It is also the only greenhouse at Allan Gardens to feature a small bridge and waterwheel. Another greenhouse recreates desert like conditions and features numerous species of cacti, including the organ pipe cactus, the beavertail cactus and the barrel cactus.

The teaching greenhouse is a newer addition, designed to encourage and teach children how to garden. Three of the greenhouses feature small ponds with gold fish swimming lazily in the ponds. One of the ponds also features a decorative statue from England, which depicts the story of Leda and the swan from Greek mythology.

You can often find artists in the greenhouses and in the park as they sit on a bench and sketch the local scenery. The park has several pathways, benches and numerous large trees. Most of the trees are over one hundred years old and include beech, oak, maple and cherry trees. As well, during the summer, the rose garden is in bloom all year long. A statue of the Scottish poet Robert Burns can be found in the east part of the park. In the west part of the park is a fountain. Recent renovations have added a leash free dog park, which is fenced in to keep the dogs in and away from danger.

As an interesting side note, several episodes of the tv series “Kenny vs. Spenny” have featured the park in the show and local tv stations have featured the greenhouse on the news. As well, permission can be granted for wedding photos to be taken in the greenhouses.

It seems that in today’s show biz world, it’s not enough just to sing, or act, or dance, you have to be an entrepreneur and become a brand all your own. One place where this is apparent is in the fragrance industry. It seems like everyone who’s anyone has their own fragrance these days, and usually more than one. Some bonds between the names and fragrances of celebrity perfumes are pretty clear, while others are a bit more tenuous. Here’s a breakdown of some scents to help you smell like your favorite celeb.

In the celebrity fragrance market, Jennifer Lopez is a prolific perfume designer, with several scents, each theoretically connected to an aspect of J Lo’s lifestyle and passions. Still was introduced in 2003. It is a floral scent of freesia, honeysuckle, orange flower, rose, and jasmine. The floral fragrances are complemented by an eclectic mix of scents like sake, earl grey, and white pepper. Miami Glow is more of a fruity scent, with coconut, pink grapefruit, passion fruit, and black currant, that also has some floral scents of orange flower and heliotrope. Finally, the sweetness is tempered a bit by amber, musk and wood. Her newest scent, Live Luxe, is meant to embody the feelings Lopez has about dancing, as well as her passion for all things luxurious. It has peach, pear, apple, and melon scents, along with freesia and honeysuckle, as well as sandalwood, vanilla, and musk.

Jessica Simpson appears to be cashing in on her reputation as a sweetie with her Dessert Treats beauty line, which includes fragrances that smell like your favorite sugary treats. Her two perfumes are Candy and Cupcake, while her other beauty products come in scents such as banana split, bubble gum, and creamsicle. They are apparently all edible as well and taste just like their names.

Britney Spears has used her provocative image to market her fragrances, Curious and Fantasy. Curious was Britney’s first perfume, and it is a floral featuring the magnolia from Spears’ home state of Louisiana, along with vanilla and musk. Curious In Control is a darker and more complex fragrance, with essences of orchid, cr

These Are The Niche Marketing Secrets

March 18th, 2008 by chemdrycarpetcleaningnxc

Niche marketing is a simple concept, that can help your business to gain an advantage, even in very competitive online categories.

You know that 20 percent of buyers consume 80 percent of your product, so the idea is that you could sell much more products with much less effort if you can identify that 20 percent and find others like them.

People that’s interested in it, and consume your product, can be thought as a market niche.

So the idea behind the niche marketing is to target, communicate, sell and obtain feedback of your best customers.

Consumers are becoming each day more demanding because their choices trend to expand in this global economy that we live now.

So the idea behind the niche marketing is the need to satisfy and keep that part of the market that really want your product or services.

But not any niche market will be good for you, you need to estimate the size of your target or niche market.

It should be big enough to sustain your business year after year. Once you have identified your niche market you need to have information about your niche market’s size, and the numbers that you need to know are not only the total size of the niche market but, the size of the niche market that’s interested in your products, the size of the niche market that your company can reach with advertising and then distribution.

When you decide to pick a niche market you need to be sure that you are going to have enough sales volume and profitability, and you also need to know how strong are your competitors to attract your niche buyers away from your products.

And you also need to have an idea of how many competitive products are going to be offered to your potencial niche marketing prospects.

You might think that the niche maketing was invented to help the new or small companies, but even the large ones have embraced the niche marketing idea, and keep on trying to divide their market and target it with different offers.

And you know why?

Very easy to answer!

If you are interested in buying a dog, would you care for a shampoo advertise?

You need to offer dogs to the people that want dogs and shampoo to the ones that want to wash their hair, you need to make niche offers to your niche market and then you will maximize your selling chances.

Those that repeatedly use your products, your “heavy users” are the niche market that you should try to dominate.

You should divide the whole universe of your potential buyers, into different segments, based on different factors.

Your can divide them by age, by family size, by gender, by economic status or by geographic locations.

It all depends on: what are you going to offer them?

All these niches need, or are interested, in different goods and or services. And the question is: Do you expertize or have a special knowledge in a certain niche?

For example you might be an experte selling used cars, of fixing bicicles, or writing articles, etc.

No matter what niche market you can cover, you can always atract that specific kind of people to your web site and that’s exactly what you have to do.

If you are trying to sell a mass articles, unless you are so creative that have a unique aproach to the products, it can be very tough to market them

This is an interesting point, you can have a very special niche article OR a very special niche aproach to an article.

The result is the same: look for a very targeted traffic to your web site and you will sell well.

The same that happens to mass articles it happen to some niche markets: they are tough to reach.

So you must narrow the focus of your site, the more narrow the focus, the easiest will be the niche marketing.

There should be tons of oportunities in your field of interest, if you narrow your focus.

But if your business is broad based, then niche marketing is not for you, you should develop a good affiliate’s program, then thousands of affiliates can work the search engines, reaching for their particular niche, and then offer your goods or services.

Theme based content sites are perfect for niche maketing and for making good profit from the search engines.

If you sell dogs, then it won’t be difficult to find a niche for dog’s food, dog’s shampoo, dog’s brushes, etc.

Once you define your niche you must look for the most profitable keyword for that niche, then determine the demand and the suply for that niche market, and this will give you the profitabilitty of each keyword (How to Sell on The Web teaches you how to do it).

When you have chosen the most profitable keywords for your niche market, you only have to start writing good content web pages.

My last words: before starting your niche marketing business, make sure that your niche market it does exist on the web, that’s big enough to produce continuous good profits, and that’s within your reach.

Simple No Risk Strategy To Squeeze More Money Out Of Your Customers!

March 11th, 2008 by chemdrycarpetcleaningnxc

If you had a no-risk way that is guaranteed to fatten your wallet, would you use it? Of course you would. I have a simple solution to do that, and I’m shocked that most internet marketers are not implementing this simple strategy. If you implement it, you’ll be ahead of most of the average internet marketers. Anyway, this is what you do:

Simply put an additional offer order form right before your customer completes their purchase.

This additional offer can be two things, a cross-sell and an up-sell. You can use a cross-sell by combining a related product to the original order. Or you can use the up-sell by giving your customers an ‘upgraded or premium version’ of your product.

Here is an example of a cross-sell:

“Yes! I want to gain Maximum Muscle In Minimal Time with the Maximum Muscle Protein Powder for $30 right now! Also include my 12-bar box of Maximum Muscle Protein Bars, the perfect food bar for the serious bodybuilder at the rock-bottom price of $19.97!”

(In this case, protein bars are related to original product, the protein powder.)

Here is an example of an up-sell:

“YES! I want to super size the soda and fries for only 50 cents more!”

(In this case, the bigger portion of the meal is the upgraded version of the original product.)

The reason you want to do this is because your customer already has his credit card in hand and are receptive to buy your original product. The cross-sell and up-sell technique works because it plays into your customer’s impulse buying habits.

Like I said before, there is absolutely no risk in having these offers. Your customers can either order your package deal or they don’t. But let’s say only 50% of your customers do order your additional offers; calculate how that can fatten you wallet. There is nothing to lose, and more money to gain! You will only win in this situation!

Just be creative when cross-selling your products. You can figure it out, just use your common sense! Here are a few examples to get you started:

Golf equipment - after they’ve purchased hundreds of dollars of equipment, would your prospects want to know how to improve their swing? Offer them an instructional DVD or a subscription to a golf magazine.

Insurance - after your prospect bought an auto insurance policy, offer them a vacation package at $100 off.

Information products - after your prospect bought your $597 product, offer them a limited time offer of purchasing the bonus CD set that usually sells for $397 at a one time only price of $97.

Just integrate these offers in your website ordering page with a checkbox. The beauty of offering these upsell/cross-sell goodies is that it takes a minute to implement, but doesn’t cost you any extra money to advertise and promote.

To sum up, the cross-sell/up-sell works well because people are in the ‘buying’ mode, and it takes less effort push them deeper in your extra ‘money-saving’ offers. If you want some extra money with very little effort, start using this strategy today!

English Premiership Football Week 4 - West Ham United 1:1 Aston Villa

March 9th, 2008 by chemdrycarpetcleaningnxc

Whisper it quietly, but there are certain members within the Villa Park faithful anticipating great things under Martin O’Neill.

Without wishing to tempt fate, Aston Villa’s impressive start to the season is hopefully an indication of things to come under the often eccentric Irishman.

A combination of O’Neill’s eye for talent, in tandem with the vast wealth of new American owner Randy Lerner could be the catalyst for success Villa fans everywhere have been dreaming about.

With an almost identical squad that David O’Leary had at his disposal, Martin O’Neill has instigated a quite remarkable turnaround in fortunes.

Playing a formation that incorporates two out and out wingers in local lads Luke Moore and Gabriel Agbonlahor, O’Neill has instilled an attacking instinct in his players and brought about an exciting brand of football.

Villa’s fans currently watch their side in a state of disbelief following last season’s insipid and colourless mix of football.

The game itself was an entertaining affair with both teams putting emphasise on attack.

Opening exchanges were end to end but it was Villa who opened the scoring as early as the forth minute.

A whipped cross from the left was met with a bullet header from Mellberg on the six yard box.

The point blank header from the Villa defender was superbly saved by Roy Carol only for Liam Ridgewell to bundle the ball over the line from close range.

Villa continued to create chances as the half wore on, the closest being an Angel header that crashed back off the crossbar.

West Ham hit back early in the second half, a corner converted by the in-form Bobby Zamora.

The Hammers sent on new Argentinean striker Tevez, but despite some clever touches he was unable to break a solid looking Villa defence.

Villa debutant Petrov came closest to grabbing a winner with a delicate lob over the goalkeeper that was hooked off the line.

The San Diego Natural History Museum

March 5th, 2008 by chemdrycarpetcleaningnxc

The San Diego Natural History Museum has an impressive range in its collection. As of this writing, there’s the fossil section, a section on the big fire in San Diego in 2003, rocks and minerals and a variety of educational programs.

We watched a movie in their movie theater. The current one is on Vikings, but of course the selection changes regularly, so don’t count on this being current information for long. The theater is large and comfortable - almost stadium seating with how the seats are tiered, but the chairs are not so high backed as in other movie theaters. The entire family enjoyed the movie.

The second floor is where the fossils are, and this was the area we spent the most time on. There’s a cave for the kids to play in, and it was hard to get my daughter to leave that area.

The kids will also enjoy joining magnetic parts to make various animals. Depending on age, it can be a bit tricky for them to figure out which part goes where, but since there are only about 5 or 6 parts per animal, it’s not too tough.

My kids weren’t all that impressed by the microscopic fossils that could be examined. A quick look, then they were bored. I found those quite interesting, however, and older children may as well.

If you think back to October 2003 and the gigantic fire we had here in San Diego, you’ll find the section on that fire quite interesting. Brings back a lot of memories, even though my home was not threatened at that time.

In the basement level there is currently an exhibit called “Dinosaurs: Reel and Robotic”. The kids loved this part. No pictures are allowed, so I can’t share anything like that with you. It’s a great exhibit, though. The basement exhibit changes at least once or twice a year. Last year it was robotic bugs. However, the times I have been there it has always been something really interesting for the kids.

The outside of the building is quite interesting. They’ve made changes to the building through the years, so one side is very old fashioned with lots of accents while the other side is quite modern. The building is just huge, but quite a bit of it is not open to the public.

The museum is free for San Diego city and county residents and active duty military the first Tuesday of each month. ID is required. If there are exhibits that require separate admission, those will still require admission.

Stephanie Foster has lived in San Diego since she was 2 years old. She decided to start http://www.gettoknowsandiego.com/ to share her knowledge of the area.
